Many articles are written regarding the risk of falls to seniors in hospitals and nursing homes and the awful consequences that follow the incident. It is safe to say the “fall prevention starts at home.”
People need to be realistic and practical, not vain about grab bars in bathrooms, by the toilet and in the bath/shower. The cost of the grab bar is cheaper than a fractured hip or shoulder.
Stay away from stools and ladders. Make sure area rugs have non-skid tape on them.
The best way to avoid bad care in hospitals and nursing homes is to stay out of them.
