A lawsuit was recently filed in the Midland County Circuit Court on behalf of a resident of MidMichigan Stratford Village whose right leg was severely fractured when she was being pushed in a wheelchair without footrests.
Wheelchairs look safe and when used properly are safe. However in many cases, individuals who rely on wheelchairs cannot keep their feet elevated as the wheelchair is being propelled. If a foot comes down, a severe injury can easily result as it did in this case.
A few minutes of safety saves ten of thousands of dollars in medical expense and untold pain for the person whose foot was caught and snapped underneath the wheelchair.
