National Commemorative Candle Lighting

In observation of national Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) is continuing its efforts to educate the public about successful aging by sponsoring the National Commemorative Candle Lighting on Sunday, November 13, 2011.  This is an annual event sponsored by AFA to remember and honor Americans who have been or will be affected by Alzheimer’s disease or related illnesses.  It is held each November in recognition of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.  Local organizations hold inspirational ceremonies in their communities on the same day, uniting individuals from coast to coast as they light “candles of care.”
