It is a sad day in America when our President, in an effort to “find common ground” with House Republicans starts talking about the need for malpractice reform. This is absurd. The problem with malpractice cases is that are not nearly as many as there should be. This is because many do not involve serious enough damages to justify the enormous costs of prosecuting these cases. Also, almost every study ever done regarding malpractice litigation establishes that the total cost of the entire malpractice system is less than penny on the national healthcare dollar.
