Frequency of Falls

In researching an article, I encountered these startling statistics in a text entitled Evidence-Based Nursing Protocols for Best Practice, Capazuti, 3rd Edition,Springer Publishing, 2008:

One-third of older adults fall once a year in their own home. There are 2.3 to 7  falls per 1000 patient days in hospitals.  In nursing homes, 50%-75% of residents fall once a year.
