CMS Endorses Michigan Training on Abuse Prevention

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has endorsed Michigan’s Adult Abuse and Neglect Prevention Training Program. This program was designed to teach nurse aides how to prevent, identify, and report adult abuse and neglect.  Long-term care facilities can utilize this program to comply with the enhanced nurse aide training mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The 12-module curriculum – developed collaboratively by Brining Eden Alternative to Michigan (BEAM), Michigan State University, and PHI with leaders from the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging – is available as a free download at the PHI Training and Organizational Development Services website: //phinational.org/training/resources/adult-abuse-neglect-prevention-training/.
