NURSING HOME INJURY: TOO LITTLE TOO LATE

As nursing home lawyers, we see many cases of preventable injury in nursing homes. We represent a client in a case in Midland County who was severely injured when she was being pushed in a wheelchair without footrests. Her foot became entangled in the carpet beneath the wheelchair. She sustained a severe right femur fracture.

The nursing home, MidMichigan Stratford Village, was cited by the State of Michigan for failing to provide adequate and appropriate care. The nursing home filed a Plan of Correction advising it had instituted a “No Pedals, No Push” policy. No wheelchairs can be used without footrests.

This is too little too late for our client.
